At the request of any boat owner, a qualified member of the
U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will provide an examination of a boat and its
equipment.
This examination is FREE to the boat owner, and can be preformed
whether the boat is in the water or on land. The exam usually takes no
more than an hour, depending on the size of the vessel. The owner must be
present during the exam and provide documentation papers.
The purpose of the exam is to ensure that the vessel
meets all federal and state requirements for its is of the correct type
and in good working condition. The exam is voluntary and no
citations are given. The examiner will also answer any questions
concerning the equipment and vessel operations.
A vessel that meets all legal requirements for its
size and type, will be awarded a decal which is good for one year. |
