Events Calendar for 2008 |
Ramp Day 17 MAYPlease mark your calendars for Ramp Day on Saturday, 17 May 2008. On that day, Division 6 will conduct one of its major annual Public Affairs events, in which we will conduct Vessel Safety Checks, attempt to recruit new members for the Auxiliary, and generally engage in positive outreach to the local boating community. Our goal is to perform as many Vessel Safety Checks as time and personnel permit, and this is a great opportunity for any VE trainees who need it to get their quals.
We will probably have two or three sites around Clear Lake at which we will set up tables focused on our three areas of interest – Vessel Safety, Public Relations and Recruiting, and so we would like to enlist each Flotilla’s PA, PS and VE officers to take an active role in participating and organizing participants from their respective Flotillas. Lunch will be served as well (for a small but reasonable fee, of course) and this should be a great opportunity for fun and fellowship. |
Boat RacesFriday 2 May and Saturday 3 May: 0900 – 1900 hours both days. Single boat timed races off San Leon in Galveston Bay. Looking for two Auxiliary boats to assist in controlling spectators. Contact your FSO-OP. |
Blessing of the FleetSUNDAY (NOT SATURDAY!) 4 May: 1300 – 1700 hours. Typical parade of about 80 boats from Clear Lake, through Clear Creek Channel into Galveston Bay and return. Looking for 3-4 Auxiliary boats to assist in controlling the parade and spectators. ARS will not be operational, so we'll have to work options for Comms support. If you have an ARS-qualified watchstander available, please advise so we can work something out. Contact your FSO-OP and FSO-CM |
ARS is Off the AirRadio Seabrook is off the air until the completion of the move to our new location on Clear Lake. Boat missions should use Sector Houston for their radio guard (VHS Channel 21A). |

ITeam Coordination Training (TCT) is an eight (8) hour program that focuses on reducing the probability of human error by increasing individual and team effectiveness. To achieve this objective, the TCT course is required every five (5) years by all Auxiliarists qualified as Coxswains, Boat Crew, and Watchstanders. In addition, candidates for Boat Crew and Watchstander should also consider taking this course at the earliest opportunity. Members completing the eight (8) hour TCT course also satisfy the mandatory annual one (1) hour TCT Refresher Course requirement during the year the eight (8) hour TCT course is completed. |
